Four stages of periodontal disease:
Early Stage Dental Disease
and then
Late Stage Dental Disease
and then
Periodontal disease is one of the most common and treatable diseases we see in veterinary medicine. Take a peek inside your pet's mouth…most likely, you will see redness and swelling around the gum line, even in the absence of plaque. This is early periodontal disease. If left untreated, not only will the teeth become infected and eventually be lost, but your pet's systemic health may be compromised.
Plaque traps bacteria under the gum line and each time the pet eats or chews, millions of bacteria are released into the bloodstream and travel to the brain, heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, etc.
